Q1 2025 Route 66 EVA Meeting - January 18, 2025

Image
Hello, fellow Route 66 and EVA Enthusiasts! It is with great sadness that we approach our final Zoom meeting tomorrow, Jan 18th, at 12PM Pacific/1PM Arizona time. Our chapter has been small, and as we have not made significant progress in growing or sustaining our little Zoom Chapter, after more than 4 years the time has come to bring this chapter to a close. As we discussed in the previous meeting, we feel the EV community would be better served by each of us focusing our time and efforts into our local chapters, where we can meet in person with other EV enthusiasts and coordinate more effectively, especially for live events such as Drive Electric Earth Month every April and Drive Electric Week each September. We will continue to run this website for the Route 66 EVA - it will link to the national EVA site. In this way, all of the rack cards and stickers we have put out into the world will not go to a dead link. Also ongoing is the Route 66 EVA Facebook group, which will continue unch...

EV Tip Time!!! Today's EV Tip comes to us from Len Nowak, one of our members who lives, shall we say, off the beaten path - down some dusty "primitive" roads. This solution has been used for his KIA EV6, and should be universally acceptable for other vehicles using a CCS charger. Dilema: The gasket around the vehicle charge port door keeps the majority of dust and dirt out of the port connectors, but some fine particles can still get in! Corrective Action: Using a standard silicone drain plug, as many standard rubber substrates don’t hold up well in hotter climates, it seals the J-1772 section of the charge port! Sure… Every “now and then” Len still hits this area with his electric leaf blower or compressed air... Was this tip helpful to you? Do you have any EV tips you'd like to share?

Used EV Tax Credit Guide & Buyer Eligibility

Image
Looking to purchase a 'New to You' EV but unsure of the tax credits you might be able to claim? Thanks to Len Nowak, Aptera Ambassador, and member of the Route 66 Electric Vehicle Association, we've got a link to help you out!  Recurrent has posted an informative article that starts right out with the VIN tool: enter the VIN of the vehicle in question to find out if it is eligible for the credit. The article doesn't stop there, though. It continues explaining which cars are mainly eligible for the used EV tax credit, how you as a consumer would figure out if you were eligible to receive the credit, and gives an overview of the National Used EV Tax Credit. Thank you, Recurrent , for your work in helping spread the news about used EVs.   See you on the Mother Road!

Holiday hiatus and meeting archive

Image
The Route 66 EVA is a small and entirely volunteer organization without employees, so we made the decision this year to take a short hiatus for the holiday season, to allow our members and principals more free time for the increased personal commitments that often come up during this time of year. We shall begin our monthly meetings once again in January 2023. To tide you over until then, you may peruse a small archive of some of our previous meetings, graciously hosted at Vimeo by Pat Quinn. You can see them on our new Meetings & Archive page .  If you're like to get direct notice of upcoming meetings, held once per month on Saturdays, please email our chapter president Jessica May , or our Program Coordinator Jerry Asher , to be placed on the list to be notified of future meeting dates. We hope everyone has a happy and healthy holiday season. See you soon on Route 66!
